Acclaimed Novelist Daniel Kehlmann to Read at Seton Hall

The Poetry-in-the-Round reading series is honored to welcome acclaimed novelist Daniel Kehlmann to Seton Hall. Kehlmann will read from and discuss his new novel, The Director, at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, in Jubilee Auditorium. This reading is free. Poetry-in-the-Round and Seton Hall extend a special invitation to all students, faculty, staff and alumni to attend.

About the Author
Daniel Kehlmann's novel The Director was one of The New York Times' 10 best books of 2025 and is currently longlisted for the 2026 International Booker Prize. His novel Tyll was shortlisted for the 2020 International Booker Prize, and Measuring the World has been translated into more than forty languages and is one of the biggest successes in post-war German literature. He currently lives in Berlin and New York, where he is a visiting scholar at New York University.

Kehlmann will read from his new novel, The Director, discuss his writing, career and take questions from the audience. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

About the Series
For more than three decades, Poetry-in-the-Round has brought some of the world’s best contemporary writers to Seton Hall. Past guests include Joyce Carol Oates, E.L. Doctorow, Nadine Gordimer, C.K. Williams, Jonathan Franzen, John Ashbery, Russell Banks, Adrienne Rich, Alice McDermott and many others. The series showcases both established and emerging writers for Seton Hall students and the community.

Courtney Sender, assistant professor of English, is the director of the series.
