Seton Hall University welcomes Burke Magnus, President, Content at ESPN, for a special Seton Hall Sports Poll event on Monday, November 17, 2025 at noon in the University Center Events Room. Promoted to this role in March 2023, Magnus oversees ESPN’s wide content organization – including studio shows, live events, newsgathering, investigative journalism, original content/ESPN Films, digital and audio platforms and social media. As a result, Magnus plays a critical role in shaping how millions of fans all over the world experience sports.
Magnus is known for being a leader and building strong relationships. He has been crucial in securing major programming and media rights for ESPN, including deals with the NFL, NBA and College Football Playoff. He also led the launch of ESPN+ and ESPNU and has been a strong advocate for innovation within Disney’s sports division. A New Jersey native and Holy Cross (B.A.) and UMass (M.S. Sports Management) graduate, Magnus was recognized by Sports Business Journal Forty Under Forty and CableFax 100 which honors the industry’s top game changers. Magnus offers unique perspectives on the business and cultural aspects of sports media.
Magnus will visit the University Center for a one-on-one fireside chat interview with Center for Sport Management Instructor and Poll Associate Director, Len DeLuca. Magnus and DeLuca worked together at ESPN and CBS Sports. Poll Methodologist Dan Ladik will interview the ESPN President for a segment of “Hall or Nothing” the Seton Hall Sports Poll podcast. Magnus will also visit the Sharkey Institute Seton Hall Sports Poll and the Center for Sports Media.
One of the topics to be featured is ESPN’s new Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) arrangement. In anticipation, students will be challenged to provide proposals for ESPN from several classes within Stillman Sport Management, Marketing and Law and Economics departments, from the College of Human Development, Culture and Media Sports Media and from Seton Hall Law. The Sports Management and Analytics Club (SMAC) is assisting in the production of the day.
