Wednesday, February 12, 2025

This in-person event will spotlight the entrepreneurial talent of Seton Hall students as they bring their business ideas to life.
The Pirates Pitch Startup Competition provides aspiring student entrepreneurs with a chance to compete for $16,000 in seed funding cash prizes and more. The deadline to register is February 28, 2025.
Do you dream of one day being an entrepreneur? Do you watch Shark Tank and wonder how contestants turn ideas into thriving ventures?
Well, now is your chance to get your start at Seton Hall!
The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is once again sponsoring the Pirates Pitch Startup Competition, and we are looking for fledgling student entrepreneurs just like you. In Pirates Pitch, student teams comprised of one to six students have an opportunity to develop and pitch an innovative startup idea to a panel of successful alumni entrepreneurs and venture capitalists who will serve as judges.
The contest is open to all Seton Hall students, both undergraduate and graduate, and applications to enter the contest are due by Friday, February 28.
To enter the contest, all you need to do is think of an innovative business idea and flesh out the first steps toward reaching your goal to launch that new venture. Or, if you are already running your own business, tell us your plan to expand and grow your venture.
The six finalist teams will compete in the championship round on Wednesday, April 2, presenting their innovative startup concepts to a panel of distinguished judges. They will vie for a total of $16,000 in seed funding and professional services. Finalists will be evaluated based on both their live pitches and detailed business plans submitted in advance. Judges will then determine the first-, second- and third-place winners, with prizes awarded as follows:
- First-place prize: $8,000
- Second-place prize: $4,500
- Third-place prize: $3,000
- Audience choice award: $500
In addition, finalists will receive pro bono legal advice from Santomassimo Davis LLP/Outside General Counsel Solutions, the competition’s legal sponsor. Further, finalists have the opportunity to participate in the Pirates LaunchPad summer accelerator program, which offers advanced student entrepreneurs an additional $2,000 in seed funding as they continue to develop their business models assisted by faculty and alumni mentors.
