Stillman School Hosts Future Business Leaders of America Summit

 The Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University hosted the North Central Region Summit of New Jersey Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) on January 6, 2025. The event attracted more than 250 aspiring future business leaders from 12 high schools across the north central region for a day full of networking, learning and engagement.
 
Featuring 15 workshops in three group sessions on servant leadership, public speaking, financial literacy, collegiate transition and career readiness, the event emphasized skill-building through hands-on activities and peer interactions. Networking opportunities allowed students to connect with peers from different schools, share experiences and build relationships that extend beyond the summit. Students also gained insights from NJ FBLA high school state officers and collegiate leaders. The summit fostered collaboration and encouraged attendees to unlock their potential as future business leaders.
 
Participants expressed enthusiasm about the summit's impact on their professional development. Prisha Malhotra, a student attendee from McNair High School, shared, "The summit was truly an unforgettable experience. I thoroughly enjoyed networking with students from other chapters and exchanging our FBLA stories and experiences. The workshops I attended were enjoyable, engaging and very insightful. I gained valuable skills and knowledge that I’ll apply not only in leading my chapter, but in my future business endeavors as well."
 
The summit event was organized and led by Joanna Liu, the NJ FBLA North Central Region vice president and a senior at Livingston High School, with the help of her state officer team and state adviser, Kimberly Clark. “It was fantastic to see members from my region come together, connect in person, and engage in workshops that were not only educational but also fun,” said Liu. “While I often interact online with chapters, advisers and students, meeting them face-to- face was a truly rewarding experience. I am deeply grateful for the support of a hardworking team behind the scenes, who helped ensure this incredible event went smoothly.”
 
The Seton Hall FBLA Chapter also presented a collegiate-level FBLA panel and workshops on the transition from high school to college. “It was easy to tell that each student came with an open mind, was eager to network and learn more than before, and put into action the tenets FBLA instills in its members,” said Maria Saitta, a sophomore and founder/president of Seton Hall’s FBLA. “We are confident that these students will not just become tomorrow’s leaders, but the astute, confident and successful servant leaders that will have the ability to change the world."
 
Future Business Leaders of America is the largest business career and technical student organization in the world with over 200,000 middle school, high school and college students included in their membership. Their goal is to prepare students for careers in business through competitions, workshops, programs, and much more.
 
Reflecting on the Stillman School’s commitment to fostering the next generation of principled business leaders, Dean Joyce Strawser, Ph.D., remarked, “The Stillman School was thrilled to support FBLA and business education by hosting this important gathering of our region’s top high school students pursuing business professions.
