Monsignor Edward Ciuba Fellowship

Monsignor Edward J. CiubaThe Center for Catholic Studies launched the fellowship in 2025 in honor of Monsignor Edward J. Ciuba ’55, a cherished priest of the Archdiocese of Newark and former seminary rector and professor at the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology. Designed to support innovative projects by Seton Hall faculty and graduate students, the fellowship strengthens the bond between the University and the surrounding community by encouraging creative partnerships with local parishes, schools, ministries, and organizations.

Monsignor Ciuba, who passed away on January 19, 2024, was widely regarded as both a scholar and a pastor with a unique ability to connect the Catholic intellectual and pastoral traditions of the Church with parish life. Ordained in 1959, he served as seminary rector, professor, parish priest, and advocate for faith-sharing initiatives. Known affectionately as “Father Ed,” he inspired countless students, colleagues, and parishioners with his love of Scripture, his pastoral heart, and his ability to bridge the intellectual and spiritual life of the Church.

Through the generosity of friends, parishioners, and colleagues, the endowed fellowship ensures that Monsignor Ciuba’s legacy of faith, intellect, and service will endure for years to come.
