Stillman School of Business and CEPS Launch the 2025 "Future of Leadership" Survey
Wednesday, April 2, 2025
The Stillman School's Department of Management and CEPS research team has launched the 2025 edition of its annual, IRB-approved "The Future
of Leadership Survey: Insight and Foresight About the Future of Leadership from the
Leaders of the Future."
In February 2024, target survey respondents across the globe were sent electronic copies of the survey instrument through collaboration with our partners, Atheneum. Over 4,000 completed surveys were returned. The results were tabulated in the aggregate at global and regional levels.
Based on the survey, trustworthiness and adaptability emerge as the most critical traits for effective leadership in the modern workplace. This raises the question — how does one instill trust? From the survey, "valuing my work" emerges as the most significant indicator of trustworthiness.
Further, based on the survey results, the research team recommends that leaders focus on three key areas: becoming adept at giving and receiving feedback, building high-performance teams and managing risk effectively. These insights are equally valuable for business leaders, employers and consultants, as investing in training for these attributes promises a high return on investment by fostering trust and enhancing leadership capabilities.
The full results of the survey are available here.
The research team, composed of professors Ruchin Kansal, MBA; Karen Boroff, Ph.D.; Anthony Caputo, M.A., and COO/CHRO at Remesh, Inc. and MBA candidate Gabriella M. Gil, is targeting the same geographic segments for the 2025 survey. The online survey targets respondents ages 18 to 30 to:
- Better understand the expectations of future leaders — college students and recent graduates — regarding the leaders they seek to work with or want to become
- Develop insight and foresight on values, competencies and preferred models of leadership development for the future
The research team encourages you to take the survey and influence the future of leadership development. Participating in this survey edition will make you a part of the global influencers of leadership development. The team is also requesting help in sharing the survey link within your networks beyond Seton Hall.
