Across League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Pirates balanced academic responsibilities with the demands of collegiate competition while navigating new lineups and evolving team identities.

As the semester concludes and December Commencement approaches, the fall season reflects both competitive success and foundational growth that will support the program’s continued development.

League of Legends

The League of Legends team navigated a challenging Fall 2025 schedule against a diverse slate of collegiate opponents. Throughout the semester, the Pirates emphasized competitive discipline while continuing to build consistency and cohesion in a demanding environment.

Seton Hall opened conference play in mid-September with victories over Savannah College of Art and Design and Oklahoma Christian Esports, establishing momentum to start the season. As competition intensified, the Pirates faced experienced programs, including New York University, Cumberland University and George Mason University, gaining valuable experience against established collegiate rosters.

Despite a difficult midseason stretch, the team remained engaged and resilient, earning an additional win against Virginia Tech while continuing to refine communication and in-game decision-making. Matches throughout the fall provided critical learning opportunities that will inform future preparation and roster development. The League of Legends team finished the Fall 2025 regular season with a 3–4 record.

Overwatch 2

The Overwatch 2 team delivered one of the most successful campaigns of the Fall 2025 season, combining an undefeated regular season with a deep postseason run. Entering the semester with one returning player and five new student-athletes, the Pirates quickly established themselves as a cohesive and disciplined unit.

Seton Hall opened the regular season with a sweep of SUNY and followed with decisive victories over St. John’s, Huntingdon College, Rochester Institute of Technology and DePaul University. Additional wins against Wilmington College and Seminole State College of Florida completed a perfect regular season.

That momentum carried into postseason play, where the Pirates earned victories over California State University Dominguez Hills and Huntingdon College before concluding the season with a closely contested playoff final against the University of the Fraser Valley. Seton Hall completed the PCL Ranked regular season undefeated and finished as the playoff runner-up.

In addition to national competition, Seton Hall’s Overwatch 2 team also competed in Garden State Esports conference play. Facing a deep regional field, the Pirates finished 4–8 and placed seventh overall. While results varied between leagues, Garden State Esports play provided valuable experience against regional rivals and accelerated the development of a largely new roster.

Rocket League

The Rocket League team entered Fall 2025 with an entirely new roster composed exclusively of first-year students. With no returning varsity experience, the season centered on development, communication and long-term growth under the leadership of Antonio "Tone" Riozzi, head coach of the Rocket League team.

Facing a demanding early schedule, the Pirates gained valuable experience against established programs. As the season progressed, the team showed measurable improvement, highlighted by victories over Michigan Technological University and the University of St. Thomas in Texas. Rocket League finished the Fall 2025 regular season with a 2–5 record.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team delivered one of the strongest performances of the fall across Seton Hall Esports, combining national-level success with a competitive conference showing. From late September through November, the Pirates demonstrated consistency, composure and high-level individual play.

In PCL Ranked competition, Seton Hall completed an undefeated regular season and advanced through the postseason with three consecutive playoff victories. The season concluded on December 12 with a Grand Finals appearance, where the Pirates finished as playoff runner-up against St. John’s.

In Garden State Esports Smash Crews competition, Seton Hall competed in a highly competitive regional field and finished 9–5, placing third overall. The strong conference finish reinforced the program’s position among the top Smash programs in the region.

Preparing for Spring 2026

Seton Hall Esports now turns its focus to Spring 2026 as teams prepare for BIG EAST Conference competition. Building on lessons and momentum from the fall, the program will emphasize refined performance, roster cohesion and continued development at both the regional and national levels.

With returning experience, emerging talent and renewed preparation, Seton Hall Esports enters the spring season ready to represent the University with pride. The program will also debut new team uniforms, providing a refreshed visual identity as teams compete in BIG EAST and regional play.
