The Department of History, the Department of Religion and the College of Arts & Sciences invite you to a fascinating lecture by Dominika Kurek-Chomycz, associate professor of History at Liverpool Hope University. Kurek-Chomycz’s lecture is entitled “A Perfect (Mis)Fit for a Leader? Moses’ Speech Impediment in Early Christian Interpretation.” The event will take place Thursday, November 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nursing Amphitheater in Schwartz Hall.

Born in Kraków, Poland, Kurek-Chomycz began her university education in Warsaw, specializing in Classics and Early Christianity. She completed her MA, Ph.D., as well as canonical degrees (STB, STL and STD) at the Faculty of Theology at KU Leuven in Belgium.

Kurek-Chomycz’s research revolves mainly around the New Testament and other early Christian writings, with a particular focus on the Corinthian correspondence, as well as their reception up to the contemporary period. Subsequent projects have included emotions in ancient Jewish and Christian literature; women and gender in Early Christianity; disability in the Bible and in contemporary Christian contexts; the significance of material evidence for the interpretation of the New Testament; and biblical hermeneutics.
