Tips for Success

In Fall 2024, the Dean of Students Office launched “Tips for Success,” an opt-in message board within the Seton Hall mobile
app to provide students with tips to support their mental health, resiliency, and
success.
According to Merriam-Webster, resilience is the ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change. This initiative is in response to the department's goal of equipping students with the strategies needed to navigate the stresses and adversities of college life. The goal of Tips for Success is to provide students with additional resilience resources and support. By providing skill building around resilience, the initiative aims to promote students thriving at Seton Hall and beyond.
Early feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have reported feeling the tips were helpful. When asked about the weekly messages, a student responded “They were inspirational. Thank you.”
Examples of Tips for Success:
- Practice Self-awareness
- Set realistic goals
- Practice stress management
- Develop problem-solving skills
How to Subscribe
- Students who are interested in subscribing to the message board must first download the Seton Hall Mobile App.
- They will be asked to sign into PirateNet with their credentials.
- Next, they would look for the Chat Bubble icon at the bottom of their screen. In the search field, they would search for Tips for Success.
- Lastly, they would hit join the channel.
Once students join the channel, they will get weekly resilience tips. In Spring 2025, Tips for Success will be available through text messaging. Students can choose to receive tips on either platform or both, if desired.
To sign up for texts, text ‘Tips’ to (973)576-5618.
