Microsoft Outlook: Hide Copilot Suggestions
Outlook has introduced a new setting that allows users to hide Copilot features, such as "Summarize this email," giving users more control over their Outlook experience. Once set, preferences will sync across all Outlook applications, including the new Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, Outlook for iOS and Android, and Outlook on the Web.
Please note, Classic Outlook for Windows does not have this setting, but any changes made in other versions will sync across all Outlook applications.
Microsoft Teams: Record Video Clips in Channels
Microsoft Teams has introduced a new feature that allows users to record video clips in channels, giving users more ways to communicate within Teams. Similar to video messages in chat, users can record themselves, their screen, or an audio-only clip and send it as a new post or a reply in a channel.
A new "Record video clip" option will now appear in the compose box under the Actions and Apps button for channel posts and replies, similar to the existing option in chat.
Microsoft OneDrive: Protect PDF with Password
Microsoft OneDrive has introduced a new feature that allows web users to protect PDF files with passwords, adding an extra layer of security for sensitive documents. Users can now set a User Password to restrict access, ensuring only authorized individuals can open the file, and an Owner Password to control permissions such as printing, copying, or modifying content.
Users can protect their PDF files on OneDrive for web by following these steps:
- Open the PDF and click the Set password button in the upper left toolbar.
- Set the User Password under the Security section, which will be required to open the PDF.
- Set the Owner Password under the Protection section. This password allows the user to define permissions, such as enabling actions like printing, copying, or modifying the content.
Microsoft OneNote: Retirement of "me@onenote" Feature
The me@onenote feature will be retired on March 26, 2025, and users will no longer be able to send Outlook emails to OneNote using this method. Instead, Microsoft recommends using the Send to OneNote feature in Outlook, which allows users to send emails and meeting invitations directly to their OneNote notebooks and sections, ensuring a seamless transition and continued functionality.
Microsoft Outlook: Delivery and Read Receipts for iOS and Android
Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android is introducing a new feature that allows users to request delivery and read receipts while composing emails. Users will also have the ability to respond to read receipt requests on incoming emails and set their preferences for future read receipts.
A new Receipts option will appear in the toolbar when composing emails, making it easy to request confirmation of email delivery and when a recipient has read the message. When receiving an email with a read receipt request, users will be prompted to choose whether to send a receipt and set a preference for future requests.
Coming Soon to Microsoft 365
Microsoft SharePoint: Retirement of "Shared with Us" Feature (April 2025)
Microsoft is retiring the "Shared with Us" feature in SharePoint Teams Sites, which provided a centralized view of shared files and folders. While there is no direct replacement, users can continue managing shared content through existing tools:
- OneDrive "Shared with me" provides a personalized view of files and folders shared with each user.
- Microsoft Teams and email notifications allow users to access shared files directly from Teams chats and Outlook messages.
Microsoft Teams: Request Collaborative Annotation Sessions (April 2025)
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that allows meeting participants to request collaborative annotation sessions during screen sharing on Windows and Mac desktops. Participants who are not sharing their screen can request an annotation session, which the presenter can choose to accept or deny. If accepted, the annotation session will start for all meeting participants. Anonymous users will not be able to request annotations.
Microsoft Outlook: Retirement of the "Feed" Tab (May 2025)
Microsoft is retiring the Feed tab in Outlook for iOS and Android starting May 1, 2025. Once retired, the Feed app will no longer be available at the bottom of the screen or in the Apps list for pinning. As an alternative, users can utilize Copilot in Outlook, the Files app in Outlook, the OneDrive app for iOS and Android, the Recommended section on Microsoft365.com, and the "For You" section in OneDrive on the web for similar content recommendations.
