Student Voices Take the Mic in the Innovation Hub Podcast Studio

At Seton Hall University’s Innovation Hub, students are finding new ways to share their stories, collaborate and create media that reflects the real experiences of campus life. Designed to support hands-on learning, creativity and digital storytelling, the Innovation Hub provides the Seton Hall community with access to spaces and technologies that make it easy to record, produce and share high-quality digital content.

One example of this in action is the Blue and Beyond Podcast, a student-led podcast produced by Peer Advisors from the Center for Academic Success that offers an authentic look at the first-year journey at Seton Hall. Through candid conversations and personal reflections, the Blue and Beyond Podcast invites listeners inside the transition to college life. Episodes feature students discussing their academic experiences, personal challenges and memorable moments from their first year, helping new students see they are not alone in navigating the changes that come with starting their college careers.

The podcast originally began as a way for Peer Advisors to connect with incoming students and share relatable insights about the Seton Hall experience. Over time, it has grown into a collaborative project that highlights the voices and perspectives of students across campus.

"The podcast grew out of conversations between my peer advisor, my students and myself. At some point, my peer advisor Joe Gangi and I realized that through those interactions we were providing students with a deeper sense of understanding and care, rooted in empathy," said Anthony Riccio, Student Success Advisor in the Division of Student Services. "From there, our goal became finding a way to help students see those in leadership roles as people they can relate to, while creating a space where empathy is acknowledged and explored."

For the Blue and Beyond team, the Innovation Hub Podcast Studio has become an important part of their production process and will continue to support future episodes as the podcast grows. The Innovation Hub Podcast Studio is one of several specialized content creation spaces available to the University community. Designed to support creativity and experimentation with digital media, the studio features professional microphones, multi-person recording capabilities, audio monitoring and a controlled recording environment. These tools enable users to produce polished podcast episodes, interviews, discussion panels and storytelling projects.
