Frequently Asked Questions
What is Academic Coaching?
Academic coaching is a one-on-one meeting with a trained peer academic coach who
can assist you with developing your skills and boosting your performance. Working
with an academic coach can help you study smarter by improving your time management,
goal setting, test-taking skills, note-taking abilities, and organization.
Where is the Academic Resource Center (ARC) located?
The ARC is located in the Arts & Science Building in Room 242. The Math Learning Lab
is located at the ARC.
Is the ARC accessible?
Due to the location of the Academic Resource Center in Arts and Sciences, we are not
accessible to those who require an elevator to reach the 2nd floor. If you would like
to meet with a tutor in person, please reach out to us at [email protected] , so we can set up a meeting in an alternative, accessible location. Tutors are also
available to meet virtually. Tutors in Residence, in Aquinas and Boland Halls, are
open to all students and accessible via an elevator. Please feel free to reach out
to us or Disability Support Services at [email protected] with any questions.
How much does it cost to work with an ARC tutor?
Nothing! All services are free to Seton Hall students.
What subjects are available through the ARC?
The ARC offers tutoring in over 40 subjects. Peer tutors are equipped to tutor a variety

Tutors expect that you will arrive on time to your session and be prepared to work.
They will expect you to bring the necessary course materials and be an active participant
in the tutoring session.
