'Ethics and Values in the Era of AI' Seminar to Be Held at Seton Hall University

Seton Hall University’s Center for Catholic Studies, The G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture; Campus Ministry, The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute, and the International Academy of Catholic Leaders and in collaboration with Somos Community Care, Basilica Management and Young Catholic Professionals of Northern New Jersey, are proud to announce the inaugural New Jersey seminar, Ethics and Values in the Era of AI.
The two-day seminar will be held at Seton Hall University on January 30–31, 2026, and is open to Seton Hall students (undergraduate and graduate levels), faculty, administrators, clergy and Catholic professionals.
Friday, January 30 – Programming is geared toward Seton Hall undergraduate students and the wider university community. The program will run from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, January 31 – Programming is geared toward graduate students, doctoral candidates, educators, clergy, Catholic professionals and the broader community. The program will run from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with an optional Mass offered at 4 p.m.
The seminar is offered free of charge. Registration is required.
About the seminar:
In a world marked by rapid technological change, the purpose of this seminar is to
bring students, professionals and the community together in dialogue to learn, address
and bring hope to new generations on how to confront both the challenges and benefits
that AI has — and will continue to have — in professional and personal life, economics,
ethics and social doctrine, by applying values of compassion, understanding and community.
This inaugural event in the State of New Jersey offers a unique opportunity to learn from speakers representing corporate, technological, and academic sectors, each sharing expertise rooted in both experience and Catholic social teaching.
Topics to be addressed:
A distinguished group of speakers will offer presentations and lead interactive discussions
and working groups on themes including:
- AI and its impact on the economic landscape and workplace from a Catholic perspective
- Preparing students and young professionals to navigate future workforce challenges
- How Catholics can lead and shape ethical approaches to AI
