New Online Modules to Support Faculty and Students With Disabilities
Tuesday, August 19, 2025
Seton Hall University is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning
environment for all students. To help faculty better understand the needs of students
with disabilities, and to provide practical strategies for supporting their success,
we are pleased to announce the launch of a new series of short, self-paced online
modules: Guidance and Best Practice Related to Accessibility and Accommodation.
Developed collaboratively by Disability Support Services (DSS) and the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC), these modules are designed specifically for faculty and reflect the lived experiences and feedback of students, professors and disability services professionals on our campus.
Each module is brief — most can be completed in under 10 minutes — and focuses on a key topic, such as:
- Understanding common types of disabilities
- Navigating the accommodation process
- Creating accessible course materials
- Fostering an inclusive classroom culture
The content is practical and relevant, offering concrete examples, tips and tools you can apply immediately in your teaching.
Whether you're new to teaching or a seasoned educator, these modules offer a valuable opportunity to refresh your understanding of disability inclusion and ensure you're meeting both the legal requirements and the spirit of accessibility in higher education. Modules can be taken in any order and revisited at any time as a reference.
We encourage all faculty members to take advantage of this resource as part of our shared commitment to student success. By spending just a few minutes exploring these modules, you can make a meaningful difference in the learning experience of students with disabilities at Seton Hall. Together, we can create a more equitable and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
